Sometimes during the summer or during the year, people move, and it might be from across town or to a new city or possibly to a new state.
And they ask the question do I need to change health insurance companies. First of all I have to say if you do move outside of open enrollment you do have a qualifying event which allows you to change health insurance companies. So you may want to take that as an opportunity to find something new if you are not satisfied with your current plan.
The next step is that if you move to a new state, then it’s highly recommended that you do change health insurance companies. Most of the times when you move into a new state, especially now with the Affordable Care Act, and Obamacare, that you purchase the plan through the marketplace and you will need to find a health insurance company that has a better doctor network than the one you purchased in the original state where you lived.
So, you should definitely look at a new health insurance if you move from state to state.
